Randy Orton kicks off the show to a lot of heat, but they get more relentless as soon as he gets a microphone, launching into loud CM Punk chants. Punk is, of course, “gone” from the WWE and Orton will not be happy about these chants being as loud as he is, neither will the company. Triple H will about this too. He wins them back to giving him heat as he claims that he won the title through dominance and that The Authority are trying to strip him of it. Orton asks how many times he has to defeat his opponents in the Chamber, reeling off each in turn, forgetting that he has rarely ever met Cesaro. Then he turns his attention to his prospective WrestleMania opponent Batista saying that they were equals back in Evolution but not any more. Orton is now the main attraction. The Authority‘s music hits and they come out to massive CM Punk chants as Stephanie speaks from the stage. Stephanie tells Orton that Orton over-thinks things and is a little paranoid, “don’t bite the hand that feeds”. Orton says he doesn’t care what the people think. Triple H takes over saying that Orton says the same thing every week about his unfair treatment. Triple H says maybe they should put their faith in someone else, launching the crowd into YES! chants. Orton will face all five opponents over the next few weeks to prove his worth, and if tonight’s opponent is victorious then “I can’t believe I am going to say this” maybe he will be the new Face of the WWE. The opponent? Daniel Bryan! Triple H leads the YES chant, which is visually so weird that even King and JBL call it out on commentary as being that strange. Attempt number 35 at crushing Bryan’s crowd reaction I guess. Or finally an attempt to rectify the Rumble? Doubt it.

Tonight’s tag team championship cage match cannot be won by escaping the cage. That’s different for a tag match, and must surely be for storyline reasons.
The Shield begin their entrance, all looking even angrier than Orton did after being screwed over in last weeks main event by the Wyatt Family. Cue a recap of The Shield, specifically Roman Reigns, refusing Triple H’s orders to leave the Wyatts alone setting up their six man tag at Elimination Chamber. Returning from adverts we now that one of their opponents is Rey Mysterio, who despite being seemingly without plan, thankfully isn’t still suffering Rumble backlash for being spot #30. His partners are Kofi Kingston and Intercontinental Champion Big E Langston. US Champ versus IC Champ to open. The Shield take control after Kingston gets tagged in, no surprise there given the booking of the high-flying star. Interestingly, when the crowd try to will a Kingston comeback the chants are “Big E”. Meaning that not only is he over enough to warrant his own chanting as an illegal competitor, but he is more over than Rey Mysterio here apparently, as Rey hasn’t even been legal yet. Rey gets the tag and comes in frantically, but is eventually shut down by a Reigns blind tag leading to a massive jumping clothesline that looked like an impromptu Hart Attack. Rey dodges Ambrose’s corner charge and tags out to Langston who comes in and clears house! Langston hits his big running splash on Reigns but the cover is broken up by both Ambrose and Rollins! Chaos ensues with Reigns capitalising with the Superman Punch! Reigns sets up for the Spear, but Ambrose tags himself in and hits his own finisher for the victory. Yet more ego clashes amongst the group who seem destined for a WrestleMania implosion of some kind. As Rollins attempts to keep the peace, The Wyatt Family interrupt proceedings by appearing on the titantron. Bray Wyatt says he knows their blueprint, that they go only forwards, never back. Unusually, Luke Harper gets to speak saying that what The Shield fail to release is that “he has always been your king.” Harper then creepily whistles as Rowan’s masked face comes to the fore with the word “Run.”
Apparently the Seattle Seahawks tweeted Daniel Bryan directly celebrating their SuperBowl victory, so who is the Face of the WWE now? Bad News Barrett is on his podium, laughing at the “bad news” that even though SuperBowl was the most viewed show ever, the viewers won’t make it to next year because they just spend the game eating junk food. Weak and overly pantomimed promo, made worse by Jerry Lawler standing up and saying that his bad news for Barrett is that he might not be here next week. Cue pantomime villainy face from Barrett in response.Cole is now introducing the WWE App and how to download it, to a sarcastic “Oh boy!” from King. Then WWE Network plugging, including the price of getting the pay-per-views separately versus via the Network. It is stupidly different, how do they benefit other than contracted viewers? Batista will be on the show tonight saying who he wants to face at WrestleMania. Expect a generic “ANYONE!” in another electric two line promo In more exciting news, Christian is here for his first Raw match in a very long time! He had an excellent match with Jack Swagger on SmackDown to qualify for the Elimination Chamber so don’t be surprised if he faces his partner, and fellow qualifier, Antonio Cesaro here. If so, expect great things. Nope, instead of something logical like that, it is a rematch between Christian and Jack Swagger. Once again people who view both Raw and SmackDown are treated to repetitiveness instead of continuity. Should be a good match, but it feels pointless given it is a rematch with less at stake than the original. This will be Christian’s first Chamber match. A slight surprise but not much of one. Will The Real Americans have dissension now because of Cesaro’s success versus Swagger’s failure? If so, does that mean that four teams (PrimeTime Players, The Shield, The Rhodes and The Real Americans) will split during the Road To WrestleMania? Not a great way to start a new year by removing all teams… Christian picks up the win again after a good match, not as good as SmackDown’s though. Cesaro looks disappointed in Swagger at ringside whilst Coulter is questioning
